Eula Mae Schaffer

Proverbs 31:10 “Who can find a Virtuous Woman? For her price is far above rubies”

Eula Mae Schaffer was born May 9, 1939, in Jackson Mississippi to the late Alvin and Lula Bell Pratt. She transitioned on February 6, 2022, at 2:18 pm to attend God’s great prayer meeting.

Eula was a very outgoing person full of life, ready and able to engage with anyone. She set her eyes on one man, Albert Schaffer, that she would marry and spend the rest of her life with. Eula and Albert were wed on September 21, 1958, in Jackson, MS and to that marriage they nurtured and raised 6 children. Antonio A. Schaffer (Lolita), Adrian P. Schaffer (Marilyn), Andre Pierre Schaffer, Charles J. Schaffer (Emerald), Sharon Gaylord (Tyrone) and Andy T. Schaffer. Eula not only raised these 6 individuals but was dedicated to the service of guiding the lives of children, young adults, and anyone in need.

Eula accepted Christ as her personal savior early in life and was baptized in Jackson MS. After wedding Albert together, they moved to Chicago, IL and pitched a tent in Maywood, IL. where she and her family joined the Rock of Ages Baptist Church under the tutelage of Rev. T. H. Wade followed by the leadership of Pastor Marvin Wiley. There Eula engaged in several auxiliaries that allowed her to become a true shepherd and warrior for Christ. Over her life at Rock of Ages, Eula was a member of the Nurses Board, The Beautifying Committee, a Young Adult Choir Chaperone, the Tape Ministry, and a consistent attendee of Wednesday evening Prayer meeting. Over the years Albert and Eula had the opportunity to move to Alabama and joined Mount Olive Baptist Church under the Leadership of Pastor James Griffin where she exhibited the same warrior for Christ attributes and becoming “Mother Schaffer”. As time evolved Eula and Albert moved to Peoria, AZ where they joined Mountain View Church of God and Christ under the leadership of Pastor Robert Earby. Eula picked up right where she left off and became a Mother of the Church and a “Prayer Warrior’”.

Not only was she dedicated to the church she was also dedicated to people. Depending on the moment and audience, Eula had (3) favorite sayings that she always shared, “GOOD MORNING MY FATHER’S CHILDREN”, “REACH FOR THE STARS and YOU MAY GET TO THE MOON” and a familiar reciting that was heard quite frequently “WHAT I LIVE FOR”. Eula was a true Matriarch of the Schaffer Clan and an advocate for youth. In her profession as a Domestic Engineer, she was the babysitter and community mom. Eula accepted and commanded her role and signed up as a representative for Children and Family Services hosting and nurturing children in between placement. In her spare time, she was also a Cub Scouts Den Mother.
