Annie J. Mcghee

July 7, 1929 — July 25, 2022

Today we celebrate the life of a precious soul Annie (Swain) McGhee. Annie was born July 7th 1929 to the parentage of the late Ora and Wesley Swain in Talladega, Alabama, they preceded her in death as well as her beloved husband Samuel McGhee, sisters Thelma Lynch, Luella Higgins, Mandy Swain, and Elizabeth Higgins; brothers Howard Swain and Duke Swain.

Annie departed this life on Monday July 25th 2022 at Elmhurst Hospital in Elmhurst, Illinois.

Annie accepted Christ at an early age and later became a member of Mount Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church in Talladega, Alabama.

In 1946 she married Samuel L. McGhee and later moved to Chicago, Illinois to start a new life together. To this union 4 children were born. She worked for a company called Hallicrafters an electronics company. After working there for some years, she decided to leave and start working for Westinghouse Electric where she eventually retired.

Annie AKA Gooch was kind, generous, and a loving person. She enjoyed dressing in fashionable attire. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her grandchildren, traveling, and going to the casino. She was loved by so many.

Annie leaves to cherish her many fond memories: 4 children, Ann “Jo” Jarvis (Willie) of South Holland, Illinois, Betty “Jean” Watkins of Bellwood, Illinois, Samuel “Sparkie” McGee Jr. (Joyce) of Maywood, Illinois, Denise “Nisie” McGee of Atlanta, Georgia.

She will be missed by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great- grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Annie is now at peace and resting in the arms of the Lord but her memory will always live on in our hearts.
