Anthony Ballenger Sr.

January 14, 1960 — March 3, 2017

Anthony Ballenger Sr. (Tony), born to Albert John and Dorothy Mae Ballenger on January 14, 1960. Tony was the tenth of twelve children and was quickly deemed the jokester of the family creating funny nicknames and songs for his siblings. Tony attended Westinghouse High School where he met Ann Elrod and with that union they conceived their 1st born Tamia. A few years later he met and married Scheritta (Faye) Strong and to that union they conceived his 2nd born Anthony Jr. He went on to be a truck driver by trade and a self-made man. Tony’s love and his collection of music later comprised of ballads from Barry Manilow, Elton John and others. His final tribute, “I’ll miss you my brother (buddy)” he sang at his brother William’s (Billy) memorial. Tony’s hobbies included singing, bowling, baseball, telling funny stories leaving everyone in stitches and playing with his grandchildren. His competitive and athletic nature in sports made him a true contender. He was preceded in death by his father Albert, mother Dorothy, siblings Martha, Arthur (B.J.), David, Dolores, Eddie, William (Billy).
