Charles A. Mccoy Jr.

On May 17, 1999 Charles Andre McCoy Jr. was born to Charles Andre McCoy Sr. and Tammikko Lewis.

Charles was also affectionately known as “Dre” or “Lil Dre” to family and friends. Charles was loving, passionate, caring, charismatic, and genuine. Charles is extremely loyal and driven by the love and support of his family and friends, especially his siblings. He always showed compassion with those he loved and was always there when you needed him. One thing you could never question was his love for sports and music. Charles grew up with a competitive nature innately a part of his character. He was involved in many sports but undoubtedly passionately about basketball. His motivation for basketball was intrinsic, guided by his autonomy, purpose, and the mastery of not just a sport but a mentality. Charles is persistent and that is displayed throughout his entire life; constantly developing the keen mindset to never give up and pursue success in every aspect of his life. To remember Charles is to remember how much he can brighten the room with his humor and charisma. To know him is to know how much his laughter and perseverance is contagious and he can make anyone around him become motivated and inspired by his hustle and flow.

He attended and graduated from Thornwood High School in 2017. Charles was well immersed and accomplished in his career of basketball throughout middle school and high school and with a career as a Dietetic Technician; he passionately admired his job.

Charles had amazing relationships with his family and friends. He will forever be remembered for the blessings of his presence in every room he entered. Charles “Dre” touched many lives and gave many the opportunity of experiencing his genuine spirit, humor, and caring personality.

Charles departed this life on Friday, August 6, 2021. He was preceded in death by two grandparents; paternal grandmother, Olivia McCoy and paternal grandfather, Anthony Adams; uncle, Davion Flemons. Charles McCoy leaves to mourn his father Charles (Faye) McCoy Sr. and mother Tammikko Lewis; siblings: Sidney Smith III, Cindy Smith, Charlonda McCoy, Laura Jackson, Chris Rucker, and Christian Rucker; grandmother, Robin Lewis; grandfather, Donald Lewis (Andrea Lewis); uncles, Miquel Lewis (Tunik Lewis), Marlon Lewis (Justine Lewis), Tony Jones and Eric Williams; and aunt Darmea McCoy, and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Along with family, his closest friends Jacobie, Dillon, Dante, Mali, and girlfriend Nashyla Patterson.
