Charles Eric Moore "Big E"

Mr. Charles “Eric” Moore was born January 26, 1971, in Chicago, IL, to Mearlee Moore (Wilkerson) and Charles “Moe” Moore. Eric graduated from Austin High School in 1989 but attended Metropolitan High School for most of his high school education. Shortly after graduating high school, Eric started a career managing stocks at a large global company called Chicago Mercantile Exchange. While Eric maintained a prominent position in this company, after several years, he decided to pursue his dream full-time by coaching basketball. Eric was a true lover of basketball. He was a proud team member of the Wolfpack and extended that love by coaching shortly after playing. Eric started coaching basketball in 1990 and continued coaching until he was physically unable to in 2023. He coached for several teams, including Manley, Austin, Lane Tech, Foreman, and North Lawndale. Although he was very distraught over the decision to stop coaching, his love for the game and the youth he coached never subsided.

Eric, at an early age, learned about God, life, hope, and what was expected of him as a person in life. People who knew Eric knew that he loved his family and liked to have fun. He always wanted people around him to have a good time with as little stress as possible, and if you hung around him, a time was had. Eric was known to be a jokester and to be the life of the party, but he was also about his family. Eric would give anything he could to make sure his family was okay. He tried his best to keep everyone together and happy. He loved everybody, and the feeling was reciprocal. It did not matter what relationship Eric had with others; he would always positively impact everyone’s life he may have touched.

Eric peacefully departed life on August 23, 2024. Preceding Eric in death are his parents, Mearlee Moore & Charles Moore; brothers, Ricky Wilkerson and Anthony Wilkerson; and sister, Sharon Moore

Remaining to cherish Eric's memory are his children, Eric D. Moore, Tyler Hickman, Jasmine Williams, Eryn Moore, Charles Eric Moore III; grandchildren, Amadeus Burnett, Aeyee Burnett, Addison Hickman, Anari Hickman, Lanell Chappelle, Jaxxon Mcfarland; brothers, Kenneth Moore (Rita), Marcus Bowie; sisters, Mary Dortch, Kimberly Howard, Charletta Moore; nieces and nephews, cousins and a host of family and friends.
