Obituary

Ethel Weese Ellis was born March 18, 1955 in Schlater, MS to Roberta and Scott Lott, both whom proceeded her in death. She was the sixth child of ten.

After her parents relocated the family to Chicago, IL in 1959, Ethel was educated through the Chicago Public School system, attending John M. Smith Elementary and Richard T. Crane High School.

On August 27, 1974, Ethel was united in holy matrimony to Larry Ellis and remained friends up until her death.

She went on to fulfill her passion of caring for others and became a Nurse working for Wellington Plaza Nursing Home for 20 years. As a Certified Nurse she was able to step up to the challenge amongst her siblings to care for her ailing mother up until her death. Ethel was passionate about her family and you could always depend on her to keep you laughing, with her outgoing personality. Ethel had a passion for sports especially basketball; she really enjoyed watching her daughter LaTear as a LSU Tiger and her Chicago Bulls.

As a young adult Ethel was led to Sion Temple Church of God in Christ (COGIC) by her mother where she later became a member and dedicated her life to Christ.

She leaves a legacy to cherish her loving memory: three children: Eureka N. Saunders (Melvin) of Dallas, TX, Lavandis Ellis of Chicago, IL and LaTear T. Eason of Frankfort, KY. three grandchildren: Jaden M. Saunders, Preston A. Saunders and Naomi S. Karamoko. three sisters: Ernestine Lott-Williams, Loretta Hill and Beatrice Goolsby. four brothers: Roosevelt Lott (Mary), Othie Lott, Nathaniel Lott (Lenore), and Bernard Lott (Donna). She was proceeded in death by her brother Willie E. Lott. two aunts: Eloise Lott-Hill and Verdie Drake. three uncles: A.W. Walls, G.W. Walls, and Larry Walls. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and the 76th Wolcott Family.

If you knew Ethel, you know she was quite the character. Her Hilarious “back in the day” stories will truly be missed, but never forgotten.
