Eugene Stanback

Eugene Stanback was born in Greenwood, MS to Earl and Emma Stanback on July 6, 1949. As the fourth of 9 children, Eugene was active in sports, playing Football at Threadgill High School. Eugene honorably served in the US Army from 1970-1972 while he and Faye married in Chicago in July 1971. He and his high school sweetheart, Faye welcomed two daughters. After receiving his Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering from Devry University,

Eugene began working at ABC 7/WLS-TV Chicago. Eugene covered countless stories in Chicago and traveled all over the world. In 1988, he received a Sports Emmy Award for outstanding camera work for the XV Winter Olympics. In December 2013, he retired as a News Photographer after 39 years of service. Post-retirement, Eugene has spent his days relaxing and spending more time with his family and friends.

He leaves to cherish his wife, Faye; his daughters Chimika (Michael) and Chundria (Tyrideius); his grandchildren, Morgan and Brendan; his brothers Willie (Sharon) & Gregory; his sisters, Jennifer (Charles) and Martha as well as a host of extended family, friends and colleagues. He will truly be missed.
