Georgia Mae Scott

Georgia Mae Scott was born on September 18, 1938 in Perthshire, Mississippi to proud parents Kirk and Mary Metcalf, Georgia's parents,grandparents, brother, Jerry; granddaughter, Nicole;  and husband, Leroy Scott; all preceded her in death. Georgia was educated in Bolivar County School System in the late fifties. She accepted Christ at an early age under the pastorate of  Rev.S.L. Lindsey at Mercy Seat M.B Church in Perthshire, Mississippi. Georgia entered holy matrimony to Leroy Scott from Gunnison, Mississippi in 1956. The couple later moved to Chicago, Illinois for social and economical advancement. In Chicago their home was a safe-haven for family members who migrated to Chicago for economical stability.Georgia's home remained an open door for family members who had the desire to" make it" in Chicago. She remained family- oriented untill her death. Family reunions were her greatest because it was her time to reminisce about old times, talking about the family and stressing the importance of family sticking together as our fore- parents did. Georgia greatest accomplishments were her children and her grandchildren. She often talked about how proud she was of them. She never about talked her accomplishments. She completed certification as a Food Service employee that gained her employment at Tiny Tot Daycare for 30 years untill her retirement. Georgia took her certification very serious. She did not have any problems in telling you how to cook and please "don't forget to wash your hands."
