Hollie Stean Latham was born on May 11, 1953 in Indianola, MS to Willie James McPherson and Rosie Lee Latham. Hollie attended Paul Robeson High School. Her ambitions led her to apply for her GED to graduate early so she can take her place in the work force.
Hollie was a talented and determined woman. She used her talents to be a hairstylist, interior designer, customer service representative, a office manager, bank specialist and a home care giver. She is best known for her fierceness, class, unconditional love, unwanted but needed opinions, cooking skills, ability to create her own adventures and always welcoming you with open arms, a smile and puckered up red lips.
Hollie loved the lord and everyone knew it. She lived a life that attested to Jesus Christ being her lord and savior. She was an active member of Life Center Church of God in Christ over 15 years, and Trinity United Church of Christ over 10 years. She served on many committees in both Life Center and Trinity United. She did the work of an evangelist through the Walking with Christ Ministry, offering salvation to souls outside the walls of the church, she feed the sick and shut in, cared for those in need and went above and beyond her duties as a caregiver.
Our lives were forever changed in May 2020 when Hollie was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer. Even when she was diagnosis she held on to her faith saying " Jesus will heal me". Though the battle was overwhelming, Hollie never gave up on her Lord and Savior. She endured with great expectancy, to see the joy that awaited her from all her tribulations. 1 Corinthians 2:9 But as it is written, no eye has seen, and no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined the things which God has prepared for those who love him. On November 7, 2020 she claimed her victory over death and went home to live eternally with her Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ.
Hollie is survived by a loving and doting Mother, Rosie L. Latham, Father, Willie J. McPherson and Grandmother Mary McPherson. Hollie was a loving and supporting sister to Larry Hood, Melvin Hood, Gale Hood, Maggie Mitts, Gregory Mitts, Deon Mitts, Kyle Yarber and Larry (JoAnn) Snowden. Hollie leaves to cherish in her memory Melvin Taylor and Phillip R. Dunbar who she raised 3 beautiful daughters with.
