**In Loving Memory of Jemia Erin Laye**
Jemia Erin Laye was born on July 3, 1978, in Chicago, Illinois, to the beloved parents James and Joyce Laye. A proud graduate of South Shore High School's Class of 1998, Jemia embarked on a fulfilling career in the Food and Hospitality industry, where her warm spirit and dedication shone brightly.
Jemia's faith played a pivotal role in her life; she devoted herself to Christ during her time at Bellevue Baptist Church, embracing a journey of love and hope. Her profound impact will be felt by all who knew her.
Sadly, Jemia was preceded in death by her parents, James Laye and Joyce Laye-Harris (William Harris), as well as her grandparents Johnny Earl, Amandia Earl, and Albertha Whatley. She is also mourned by her stepfather William Harris, brother Everett Laye, and fiancé Antonio Johnson.
Though she has departed from this world, Jemia leaves a treasure trove of cherished memories with her son Jorian, her sisters Jeanna, Bridgette, Alicia, Ramona, Shaneka (Clifford), and Melonise (Marlon), and her brothers Anthony and Maurio (Margaret). In addition, she is deeply missed by a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and family.
Jemia was known for her generous spirit, often volunteering with the Bellevue Social Needs Committee where she helped feed the hungry, embodying kindness in every act. She found joy in attending R&B concerts, relishing in the thrill of a good movie, listening to music, and dancing with abandon.
As we celebrate Jemia's life, let us remember her vivacity, her love for others, and the indelible mark she has left on our hearts. Though she may have departed, her spirit will continue to inspire us every day.
