The Dapper dressing, Cadillac driving, Deacon Kenneth M. Martin, Sr. was born in Chicago, IL on January 15, 1965.  He was the sixth of seven children born to Pastor Felix and Katherine Martin.

Kenneth accepted Christ and was baptized along with his brother Chris in January of 1971 at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church.

Dubbed “The Dapper” by friends and family, Ken attended Howland Elementary School, Hess Upper Grade Center, George W. Collins High School and Lincoln Technical School.

The Dapper started playing the piano and organ, under the mentorship of Stephen Anderson, in 1979.  He began to play for various churches in the Chicagoland area, including his very own Mountain Top MB Church, where he was the lead musician in 1981.

In 1996, Kenneth married “Rhodesian,” to this union three children were born.  He devoted his life to his wife and family for 20 years.

Kenneth’s extensive work history compelled companies to utilize his leadership skills.  In 2010, Ken retired from Walgreens Distribution Center, after 10 years of service, due to health issues.

Kenneth led an active life with his church family and friends, if not singing, playing the organ or at church, he was showcasing his skills.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his devoted, loving and caring wife Rhodesian; three daughters: Evelyn (Demetrius, Sr.),  Krystal (Leo) and Kristina; two sons: Kenneth, Jr. and Maurice; two sisters: Elder Katie Martin and Constance Sims (Anthony, Sr.); one brother: Pastor Christopher K. Martin (Rev. Kimberley); one special aunt: Edie Henderson (Pastor John, Jr.); seven grandchildren: Taniyah,  Corey, Demetrius, Jr., Kivette, Carmelo, Savannah and Karter; an adoring mother-in-law: Vivian Peterson; two special God children: Christian Godfrey and Jamarya Hodge.  A host of nieces, nephews, family and friends including his entire Mountain Top and Douglas Park families
