Lue Emma Edenburgh

February 8, 1952 — July 3, 2024

Lue Emma Edenburgh was born February 8,1952 in Belzoni, Mississippi to Ida Mae and James Edenburgs Sr. In 1956, her family moved to Gary, Indiana, the place she would forever call home. She was a fun-loving and feisty child that in kindergarten, decided that she would like to be called just "Emma". Emma graduated from Froebel High School in 1970. She would later become a certified nurse's assistant at Methodist Hospital Northlake. She worked on the neonatal unit for years, where she provided compassionate care and support to her favorite kind of people, children. During this time,

Emma began her family. In 1982, she was baptized in Jesus' name and filled with the Holy Ghost at New Jerusalem Apostolic Faith Church under the late Bishop Fred Tea Donahue, Sr. Her passion and love for teaching children in Sunday school, left a lasting impact on many young lives. She nurtured their faith and guided them with love. Emma faithfully served there in ministry for over 20 years, until the doors closed in 2005. From there, she became a member at Living Stones Church of Crown Point, Indiana, under the leadership of Pastor Ron Johnson. In 2010, the commute became a challenge for her, which led her to find a new spiritual home at First Church of Hobart, under the leadership of Pastor Jonathan Barley.

Emma had a long journey with illness that began with Lupus around 1983. As a result, she spent many hours, days, months, and years in and out of hospitals and medical facilities. After years of battling Lupus, it went into remission, but she was then placed on peritoneal dialysis until she received a kidney transplant that lasted for about 14 years, which is double the life expectancy of a new kidney. In 2008, she returned to peritoneal dialysis. In 2014, a routine checkup revealed that she had stage one colon cancer. The doctors found and removed it within the week. This led to her being placed on hemodialysis for the remainder of her life. This soldier had miracle written all over her. She experienced several illnesses, but her faith was still strong. Her testimony and belief of God's ability to heal her, encouraged everyone around her, especially her children.

Emma survived illnesses that would have taken the average person OUT. She will forever be known as God's Miracle Child, who stunned and confused countless doctors for over forty years... BUT GOD!!! She was a strong woman who fought long and hard, but God decided that it was now time for her to rest. Her legacy of GREAT faith, kindness, Selflessness, her contagious laugh and humor will forever be cherished.
