Roy Hawkins was born on December 26, 1950 in Sunflower, Mississippi to the union of the late Will Oner Hawkins and Earlean Hawkins.

Roy confessed Hope in Christ at an early age and was baptized at Zion Rock MB Church in Sunflower, Mississippi.

He later moved to Chicago where he met and married his wife, Leotha on March 24, 1972.

Roy took pride in being a career truck driver and could drive a “tractor trailer” like it was a car. He spent over 30 years driving trucks for many companies such as Homemakers, Heilig Meyers, JB Hunt, and Ridol to name a few. Roy was a human GPS and could read a map like no other, he could direct you anywhere in the US with an address.

He leaves to cherish his memory, four devoted daughters, Lekisha Hawkins-Lee, Ma’Shay Hawkins, Lakesha Hawkins, and Michelle Hawkins; three sisters, Vernia McKinley, Blanche Hawkins, and Betty Hawkins; ten grandchildren Miesha, Marcel, Antoine, Jr, Marvin, Jr, Marlissa, Amarion, Chyna, Kamari, Kyial, and Kairo; four great grandchildren Marquice, Marlon, Syeven, Arnez and a host of loving nieces, nephews relatives, and special friends.

Roy was proceeded in death by his father and mother Will and Earlean Hawkins, his wife Leotha Hawkins, his two sons Maurice and Marvin Hawkins, his sister Iola Rodney, and brothers Ben, Chic, Joe, Frank, Freddie, John and Edison Hawkins.
