Vallie Annette Jackson Coney

Vallie Jackson-Coney was born on August 5, 1939 in Memphis, Tennessee to the late Annie Mae Cutler-Jackson. Vallie moved to Chicago, Illinois when she was 5 years old and was the second oldest of nine children. She attended DuSable High School in Chicago and completed several college courses. She worked with the United States Post Office for over 20 years before retiring.

Vallie is survived by three sisters: Clara, Annie Mae (Johnny) and Aretha. Siblings: James, Gilbert, Edna, Tim, and Travis preceded her in death. Vallie was mother to two daughters: Aretha (Donald) and Teresa (preceded in death). An ex-spouse also preceded her in death. Vallie was also a proud Grandmother to her three grandchildren: Gerald “Turk” (preceded in death), ArDonna, and Donald Jr. Vallie’s grandchildren were always a continued source of pride and inspiration to her. Vallie also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, godson Lorenzo, additional godchildren and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

Vallie enjoyed working with senior citizens and children, cooking for others, and creating artwork. She believed strongly in the power of prayer and wholeheartedly loved the Lord, her family and church family.

Missionary Vallie Coney was a faithful worker and ardent supporter of New Original Church of God in Christ and its leadership for over 30 years. Since joining New Original in 1985 she served enthusiastically whenever needed. Missionary Coney served on the Evangelism and Maintenance Committees as well as the Deaconess Board. She served as the chairperson of the Pastor’s Aid and Benevolence Committees, Sunday School Teacher for the adult class and supported every New Original Ministry endeavor. As a faithful State worker, she visited nursing homes and assisted the elderly. She also served as a member of the Evangelism Department of First Jurisdiction of Illinois, under the leadership of the late Evangelist Leslie Bullock. At Faulkner School she served faithfully as a Lunchroom Manager.

In 2001, she attended the C. H. Mason Bible Institute where she obtained her Evangelist Missionary License and joined the Missionary and Mother’s Board of New Original. Missionary Coney served as the chairperson for the Golden Agers, a senior committee that hosted health awareness fairs and other activities in support of the ministry.

Missionary Coney remained a faithful prayer warrior and attended worship, prayer and bible study services as her health allowed. In January 2020, Missionary Coney moved to Lorton, Virginia to live with her daughter Aretha. She continued to faithfully support all New Original Ministries.
