Chicago, IL

Who am I?

Yonyace Kyles, of course! Born to Joyce and Roland Kyles at Illinois Research Hospital on October 31, 1967, at exactly 8:29 PM. Now, I told you I was special—just look at my birthday! Only World Changers are born on that day. I was BORN to make an impact!

This is MY SONG…

I was raised in Chicago, Illinois, and educated in both public and parochial schools, graduating from Academy of Our Lady in 1986. From there, I followed my passion and attended cosmetology school, earning my license in 1993. And that, my friends, is when the magic began!

You already know—time spent in my chair was an experience. I left my mark in every space I touched. Before Salon Suites became a trend, I had my very own suite on the 3rd floor of my Aunt DD’s place at 3208 W Warren. From there, I graced New Attitude, Kut Zone, and eventually co-founded Salon 746 with my salon sister of 28 years, Audrey.

Every salon I worked in carries a piece of me—a vibe so electric, an energy so unmatched, and a finished product so legendary that it could never be duplicated. If you don’t know about my short cuts, ask around… the proof is out there!

Praising MY Savior…

Now don’t get it twisted—I always knew where my gifts came from. I confessed my faith in Jesus Christ at an early age, was baptized in 1976 at Shiloh Baptist Church, and later recommitted my life to Christ when I joined Mt. Ridge Missionary Baptist Church. I did my best to live a Christ-centered life, walking in faith and purpose every step of the way.

ALL THE DAY LONG…

Even though I’ve transitioned, my love, my laughter, and my legacy remain right here.

My memory lives on through my beloved mother, Joyce Riley; my sisters, Kim Riley (John), Brittany Riley (Patricia), and Latisha Kyles; my brother, Darnell Kyles; my Aunts, Dede Draper and Linda Draper Phillips; my Uncle Buddy; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

And while I reunite with those who went before me—my fathers, Kenneth Riley and Roland Kyles, my grandparents Sidney and LeFlora Draper, and Lula Mae and Marlton Conic—I leave behind my greatest treasures…

My daughter, Kailyn Kyles, and her son, Kylo. They are my heartbeat, my legacy, and my reason for everything.

And finally, my soulmate, Antoneyo Morgan—the one who knew my heart, held my spirit, and walked this journey with me in love.

Though my physical presence is gone, my spirit remains. My love? Unwavering. My impact? Everlasting.

Because legends… They never truly leave.
