Yvonne was born July 24, 1948 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Octavia and Robert Clavelle. She was the oldest of 12 children. Her sister Ruby Clavelle proceeded her in death. Yvonne accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at the Greater Risen Sun under the leadership of Reverend R.D. Holley. Yvonne received her education from the Simeon High School in Chicago, Illinois. She later studied and received her license as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
Yvonne married John Young and to this union one child was born, Yvette Young. She later met and married George Shelton. She later adopted Lashunda Young. Yvonne was employed at St, Luke's Presbyterian Hospital where she worked as an LPN until she was injured on the job and became disabled. Yvonne was a devoted and caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Yvonne leaves to cherish her memory, a husband George Shelton;two daughters Yvette Young and LaShunda Young; seven grandchildren Brandon Israel, Melinda Turner, Brian Young, Luke Israel, Laylah Israel, Robert Young and Shavonne Young; two great grandchildren Alicia Escobar and Catalea Escobar; six brothers Robert (Brenda), Charles,Eddie, Clarence, Michael (Wilma) and Phillip; four sisters June (Willie) Artley, Mercedes (Paul) Thervil, Brenda (Eddie) Ross and Beverly (Harmon) Douglas; two aunts Helen White and Gloria Jean Scott; three uncles Chester Clavelle, Frank (Mary Louise) Clavelle and Charles Clavelle and a host of many special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
